Have you had someone see you working on a current commission and try to up the commissioners price?
How do you handle a situation like this?
Im working on a painting (first non family non friend patron) and said person walks up, sees the piece and keeps trying to buy it from me, higher than they think the patron is paying. And I am being faithful to my patron and adamantly saying NO.
Said person is very close to me (and they have a few of my pieces) so of coarse saying no so harshly to them is hard and I feel very bad knowing they are somewhat upset with me because of it...... Of coarse I am more than willing to paint this person their own painting, 'specially if they're willing to buy, but that doesnt seem to be a comfort to them now.
I did the right thing right? I said no and offered to give them their own commission. Hell they could buy a print later right? Is there more I could've done?
